Rega Maia + Maia 3 differences

I use the Mira 3 as a preamp only into a Maia 3. I noticed one poster's opinion in your previous thread that this would be of marginal benefit, but my speakers are a rather tough load (4 ohm/88db) and in my system the difference in heft and detail is substantial.

I have no doubt that a Cursa would be an improvement, but I like the idea that the Mira is flexible enough to function as a perfectly credible preamp.

I have heard both the Maia (2000) and the Maia 3, and don't remember any audible distinctions between the two. Undoubtedly the 3 has some slight design and parts quality improvements, but I don't think there's a tremendous difference overall.
