Referbishing a rubber turntable mat - what have you used?

I have a ~50 year old rubber turntable mat which has gone hard and slighly warped, I think due to long term exposure to direct sunlight/heat. There is no fading or cracking (yet - I expect it would snap if handled incorrectly) and I was wondering if there is a relatively simple way or rejuvenating it a bit and softening it up again?

I've read good things about printer roller cleaners such as this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0012IKSHO/?tag=pinkfishmedia-21 . Would this do the trick or is there a better option?

This AutoGlym Vinyl & Rubber cleaner is very good indeed IMO. Don’t use it on idlers etc as it is a bit slippy, but it works a treat bringing life back into tired old turntable mats. I’ve used it on Garrard, Thorens, Lenco etc and it really does work.

PS Soaking in warm soapy water can help a lot too. As you say the essential thing is not to crack the rubber before you’ve softened it up.

Gummi Pflege - Google it…..

Rubber care stick used by car detailers on car door rubber seals and window rubbers.

Really works well, and at reasonable cost.
