  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Looking for a basic passive pre with two inputs, one output and zero attenuation at full wick.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Townshend Allegri. Simple but not cheap.

It’s a pot in a box shouldn’t cost much at all.

Yeah, $50 for the Sys seems about right.

Perfect, but gets pricey with insured shipping, VAT and customs charges.

Here’s one I made. A TKD pot, tupperware container and some nice fancy cloth covered solid-core wire. It sounds superb, within a very, very short distance of my highly sought after Audio Synthesis stepped attenuator passive preamps (I have a Passion and ProPassion).

On reflection, I've had stepped attenuators and don't much care for notches in my volume control, so would like one with a decent ALPs pot.

Is that a diy job? If so, what is/was originally the case?

Its diy, but not my diy. No idea, but it’s got a delightfully smooth action.

I received a Tisbury pre a couple weeks back which is doing a fine job playing with a Quad 303 and a pair of LS3/5a's. Apparently there are better passive preamps out there so it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

It sounds good to me and having adjustible gain control and record out might come in handy. Nicely finished for the price I thought as well.
