Raspberry pi-top 4 ... how to make a dac

Hi all,

I am a complete Rasberry pi novice but a very kind friend has just given me a brand new pi-top 4 - https://www.pi-top.com/products/pi-...d87bea30|cc7398df-307a-4b58-b51c-8dd0ba591969

Does any one know what I need to turn this in to a good hifi DAC (preferably Bluetooth enabled)? Is there any room in the case?

I currently have an audioquest dragonfly black but thought this could be a fun project.

Please be gentle with any advice ... it’s all a tad confusing to me ...
 
I use moode audio as OS with several pi-versions.
Moode works well as a streamer (probably the primary purpose) and also has a good and easy to use mode to use it as a bluetooth renderer.

The PiTop you mention does not work with the usual DAC-hats you find for the rpis. You probably need a USB DAC of your choice to turn it into a good hifi DAC.
If you would like to transplant the Pi in the PiTop into a dedicated HiFi-case, maybe this would be a good starting point: https://www.allo.com/sparky/boss2.html

thanks. I presume I can plug my audioquest dragonfly in to it directly so I’ll investigate using it as a streamer/Bluetooth point
 
You could use PiCoreplayer with the Pi and Dragonfly.I’ve done this in the past. Worked well. PiCoreplayer acts as streamer and server(LMS).
 
Sorry probably a very obvious question but I’m having rouble loading any program (Volumio,picore etc) - it runs pi os but when i flash a sd (with etcher) the pi show the sd card not found symbol.

any ideas what I doing wrong?
