random playlist from a particular year on Squeezebox

As per title is there any way to get my SBT to do a random mix of say songs from 1978. I can get a play-list populated but it only has the first (75 in my case) songs in the play-list. I could I suppose increase the amount of songs the play-list allows but this can slow things down considerably (and if some are to be believed affect the sound).

Have you got the Random Mix plugin installed ? I use this, and it does have a "songs from Year" option, although I've never actually tried it out...

I do but AFAIK you cannot select a particular year.

You can on mine... Server version 7.7.2 My Music / Random Mix / Years... gives you a list of years to choose from.

What you've probably missed is the "shuffle tracks" Option for playback.
Pick a year, play Songs, toggle shuffle. Voilà.
Should work with any Version after say WW2.
