Rampent - 'Back Street Walker' 33 rpm E.P. What can you tell me?

Big Tabs

looking backwards, going forwards

and the b - side...

7" single found in a local charity shop. Played and sounds like a woman singing over (?) heavy metal?

Sorry the pics are too big.
cheers for any information, I can't find it on Discogs.

another record which gives away very little in the way of useful information is the four track EP issued by the hopelessly obscure RAMPENT at some point in 1980. musically speaking, it's not too bad at all, the unrenowned quintet being a female-fronted affair with a few similarities to likes of SIEGE, OMEN SEARHER and BASHFUL ALLEY, with the upbeat "back street walker" and "living in the past" being the pick of the bunch on display. the entirely unremarkable "fight back", on the other hand, is slightly weaker, despite some reasonable guitar work, while the dull ballad "no friend of mine" is completely disposable. to be honest, they may have been better-advised to ditch the dodgy pair and issue a two-traker in the first istance. all in all, though, it represented a semi-decent release for a small-time act, who presumably failed to make any impression whatsoever whit this particular offering. nobody seems to recall this band at all, and few copies of their four-tracker have surfaced in recent times, although most appear to have been found in the Midlands. there are virtually no other details given on the record itself (once again, the absence of a picture doesn't exactly help), except for a couple of writing credits, plus an indication that all of the tracks were 'unpublished' at that time, suggesting that this might even have represented little more than a vinyl demo, manufactured in tiny quantities via the SRT custom pressing service and touted around in the hope of drawing interest from a major label. the fact that a minimal number of copies appear to have survived would tend to support this conjecture, although it might have been a commercial release after all. anyone got any ideas?

thanks Seeker UK and Dean, that is all useful, I may have a go at listing it on Discogs, hopefully I will have enough information to complete the listing.
The condition of the disc is not great, it does play through though, and the surface noise is lost when the track gets going...

I live north of Nottingham, so that ties in with 'found around the midlands..'

I have had a copy of this for years. Never played it and had it on a pile to go to a charity shop but was intrigued by the white paper cover seemingly with band messages and autographs. Going to give it a spin.

I sold my copy which was in VG only condition for £70 many years ago.

this is the Discogs reference to the release

There are probably thousands of such things languishing across Spotify. Would love to see a picture of this act. What do we reckon, hair metal?
