Post-Trump: III (decline, further tantrums, legal proceedings, book deals etc)

The US sure do have their fair share of strange political wannabees - much like we do. https://twitter.com/AccountableGOP/status/1542866096537145345?s=20&t=OckXCVedtDxR_kuH2VJvtA. This debate has Cheney walking over the other candidates just by not being a moron.

What is particularly sad is that the nutter lady talking about 2000 mules and Fauci being one of the most corrupt people in Washington - she's on track to beat Liz Cheney in the primary. Honestly - the republican party is now a dangerous cult, completely detached from reality.

Hopefully just alarmist conspiracy theory, but maybe a warning as to the gerrymandering mechanisms of the darkness to come: Thom Hartmann (Twitter).

I’m in no doubt now that the Republican Party is a far-right fascist entity that will subvert democratic process in any way it can to seize power. That much has been proven in so many ways over the past few years it is beyond question. Now the furthest extremes of the party control the SCOTUS using that as a tool in this aim is in no way as far fetched as it should be in any sane world.

It seems to coming down to a last stand at these coming elections. Unless ‘middle’ America especially women, come out in force to enable the Democrat numbers in Congress to stop the rot then the games up. The Pillars of American society, as witnessed recently, are unable / unlikely to resist the Far rights demands on it. With the gerrymandering and sheer inability of Trump supporters to wake up and smell the coffee I fear the worst, and I like to be optimistic by nature.
The Democrats in general appear somehow ineffective when combatting the far right / Religious minority and may be too late, especially if Trump runs again. They just don’t seem to get that the nutters will be in control and couldn’t give a flying Fig about Democracy or giving up Power, which they wouldn’t the next time, they learnt well.
Dark days.

It feels almost as though in the US and the UK the right is happy to let its junk hang out, because The Plan is reaching the end game and can’t easily be stopped now. So there are no consequences, and no need to conceal their doings beneath a veneer of respectability.

Oh there are consequences alright. What you're calling 'The Plan' is what I call the CHAOS, and if this malignant and deadly disease passes the point of no return it'll precipitate a final war that'll wipe out humanity. The Grand Architect of the CHAOS is pushing the world towards this end right now from his bunker in Russia.

"The Plan" has been in place long before Putin came on the scene, although it does suit his needs. The Right Wing strategy for gaining an unassailable hegemony has been in place since sometime in the 1970s. It started resulting in public policy when Reagan was sworn in.

One could almost view the post-Civil War period as having an uncharacteristic liberal/left ‘blip’ around the mid to late 20th century where apartheid was abolished, the civil rights movement made real progress for African Americans, women, LGBTQ+ folk, unionisation etc, but now all that work and progress is being erased with a lot of very powerful far-right white Christian fundamentalist money. Fascism always wants to return to some distorted idealised rose-tinted vision of the past, and incomprehensibly that looks to be American apartheid and maybe even refighting the Civil War…

"We have lost the south for a generation," is what Lyndon Johnson said after signing the civil rights bill. He was optimistic. The Democrats haven't gotten a majority of the white vote since '68. The Republicans became fiscal conservatives once minorities had equal rights: they didn't what to spend their tax dollars on anything a non-white person might benefit from.
