Post-Trump: Biden President Elect II (Trump tantrums, riots etc)

Imagine if two separate armed gangs robbed separate banks, both taking huge sums of money. One of them shot some security staff, eight dead, and used all the money to line their own pockets. The other shot and killed four, and used half the stolen money to feed hundreds of starving orphans.

Which gang would you choose to take over your neighborhood. It WILL be one or the other.

Good revision. A little more 'realism' would be gained if one made the gang that killed 8 into the gang that killed 400,000. Clarifies the approximate magnitude of difference.

And you can throw in that the gang that killed 400,000 was trying to subvert the political order and take over, so the gang chief would be president for life, with a crazed mob ready to lynch anyone he named, and thus the robbery already endured would be repeated a thousandfold.

So true. The lack of US government help has been mind blowing. Even here in Massachusetts when I needed a COVID test over the summer because I had symptoms and had to drive my daughter to college (and there are signs everywhere to get tested if you feel sick) I went to the state website and it was nothing more than a bunch of links to private providers, each with different requirements in terms of referrals, appointments, costs, which insurance they accepted (if any) and test turnaround time. COVID has fully exposed the utter disaster of the US's fragmented for-profit healthcare system, and yet still half of the population will trot out the tired old mantra that market forces will fix healthcare if only we strip away what little regulation the US has.
Republican Gov Dewine here has tried to not provoke too much rebellion by the crazed mob, while doing helpful things. His policies have fallen short in many ways, but I'll give him credit for making testing available. Travelling 'pop-up test centers,' staffed in part by National Guard, enabled anyone to locate today's site and go get tested, without appointment or cost. Worked well enough for big cities; the hinterland was less well served with 'nearby' pop-ups infrequent. Got tested twice when I was worried about exposure.

Imagine if two separate armed gangs robbed separate banks, both taking huge sums of money. In one of them the cleaners made $7.25 an hour and feared bankruptcy if they or their families ever got seriously ill. In the other the cleaners made $15 and had basic healthcare for them and their families. A true progressive would concentrate on the fact that both gangs had a sponsored F150 getaway truck and were wearing Built Ford Tough bandanas.

Would you like the gang that murdered only 4?

Would you tell people not to criticise them?

Imagine if two separate dictators, both with an iron-fist grip on their nations, both taking huge sums of money through corruption and violence. One of them provided helicopters, missiles, guns and barrel bombs to the other in order to kill more than 11,000 civilians in Aleppo alone.

Would you shovel their propaganda onto audio forums?

Replying to myself, I want to comment that it was obvious from the start to many of us that Trump was just the man to do it. To many of us, but not to Max.

Seriously Max, what would you suggest that American voters do, at this moment? They are presented with two choices. Telling them they should choose something different really doesn’t help very much.

They should realise that both parties are their enemy. Both work for the 1%, not the people.

They should realise that CNN, MSNBC, Fox etc are designed to keep them polarised against each other, while the rape of their country continues, blue or red.

That might be a start.

Few people like to admit they’ve been taken for a ride. Something you should know yourself.

Gawd, what tiny mind you possess.

Do you know ANY people from the one percent?

Or prehaps even the nought point one percent?

I could post more in this thread but this is Tony Ls forum so
I won't ignite incendiaries cos I have great respect for what he has managed to create here, something pleasant and mostly positive.

He will do the right thing.

Just watched the film "Valkyrie."

People like you and drumpf have NO shame and endeavour to recruit and drag naive people down to your level...

Out.

So having had the scales fall from their eyes, they vote for whom?

They call a general strike until the factories are turned over to the soviets? Nah, that won't work. Maybe vote only for Justice Democrats? Nah, turns out they're no good. They hope Venezuela rigs the vote in favor of the Socialist Equality Party? OK, that's a plan....

US historian Heather Cox Richardson

writes a daily letter, to which I've subscribed, and which I find interesting. Today's (dated 21 February) is scary:

It shows that the delusion is deeply rooted, and how difficult it will be to remove it, short of a major conflagration.
Richardson has been essential reading the past few months. Highly recommended.
