Just spotted this else where
--------------------------------------------------------------------
2006 is such a cruel year... a mere few hours after the concert in Groningen with Hatfield & the North, drummer extraordinaire Pip Pyle died yesterday at the age of 56.

Always a central figure in the so-called 'Canterbury' scene - Gong, Hatfield & the North, National Health, Soft Heap, In Cahoots, Shortwave, Brainville, and his own Equip'Out and Bash!, and a lot more - he will be sorely missed. rest in heaven, dear dear philip...

I can't find any reference to his death - just a posting like this on a Canterbury forum that they've heard he's dead. I'm not casting aspersions - I'd just like you to be wrong!

as a fan of the softs and other related bands it is sad to see another of the musical hero's from my youth fall off the ledge.

This is hard to grasp. A favourite of mine and never disappointed with Hatfields, National Health, Richard Sinclair, etc.

I am deeply sorry to read this.
