A new addition to our home, (by chance) nearly a year to the day that we lost our lovely lurcher, Barley, at nearly 15 years of age. This is Freya, a Saluki cross. 16 weeks old, she arrived from Eire earlier today, arranged by a local rescue centre. We didn't plan on getting a puppy, just wanted to give a home to a dog that needed one, but were pleasantly surprised to be offered her back when she was first fostered in December. Tired and hungry from her journey over she is already settling in well, having had two decent meals so far as well as a first 'local' walk. Incredibly inquisitive, gentle and understandably nervous, she is presently sprawled across one of the dining chairs with her head in my wife's lap who is sitting on the chair next to her. We hope to give her a very happy home, just have to get through the expected first sleepless nights as she gets used to us/our home.

She's one gorgeous little girl, and I'm sure will love every minute in her new forever home. Wishing you & her many happy years ahead. :)

Do not underestimate the value of Adaptil and a Kong full of treats to keep them occupied and help settle them to sleep on the first few nights.

Mind you, with our Labradors, once you've fed them one way they'll be expecting that in perpetuity. They have been accidentally conditioned to expect leftovers upon hearing 'The Archers' theme.
