Phasure NOS1A G3 R2R USB DAC with B'ASS upgrades
This DAC uses eight PCM1704U-K 24-bit R2R chips to convert USB digital audio into analogue signals without oversampling or filtering the data. These are regarded as the best sounding R2R chips and are still in use in high end converters like Naim's statement spec ND555 streamer. The USB input is the sole input and single ended analogue out sent via XLR connectors. The analogue outputs are at full signal at a voltage of 1.5V and the output impedance is 33ohms. USB audio can be played back from Phasure's proprietary XXHE software which converts all audio to 32bit 768kHz and applies filters before sending it to the DAC. This allows the DAC to do away with filtering altogether and is said to be a major contributor to the DACs sound quality. This allows the NOS1A to reproduce a square wave without any pre/post ringing. When used in combination with XXHighEnd and its bit-perfect volume control, there's no need for any preamp so the outputs can be connected directly to a power amplifier.
This DAC is in fantastic condition, having spent most of it's time in storage due to renovations. I purchased it in 2017 and it was sent to Peter @ Phasure for the B'ASS and Phisolator upgrades. The Phisolator has since stopped working and is not repairable as the chips are obsolete, hence the price. The Phisolator was a USB galvanic isolator, similar in principal to the Intona 7054 or UpTone ISO Regen and there is a separate USB input that bypasses it meaning USB playback is unaffected.
Comes with all original packaging (double boxed) from a smoke and pet free home.
