Note that the lightning protection system down conductor does not connect to the coax. The electrical earth and lightning protection are only bonded together in the ground

Thanks for the link and yes, a separate circuit for the lightning protection with a rod higher than the aerial makes sense and will allow me to disconnect the coax from the ground. I will give it a try. Thanks again.
 
Surge suppression on a balanced line is more complicated than for coax, so best to keep the lightning surge away from the feeder in the first place
