Ouch

Not all crude oil is the same. Diesel comes more efficiently from the heavier types, which are mainly from Russia and Venezuela.

Beautiful day down in Devon today so decided to take the boat out. Rocked up at the slipway at about 9.30 wondering if we’d got down there too late for a parking space but it was virtually deserted. That’s got to be because of fuel costs.

Could be. We drove down to Torbaydos from the middle of England the other week. The roads were mostly clear all the way, apart from the usual Stonhenge selfie spot (sooner they dig a tunnel or widen that stretch the better)

This week we drove up and down to the Peak District on the M1. Weird journey. We were the only car in the outside lane doing 80 - 90 both ways. Everyone was doing like 55mph. Hypermiling. Weird.

You managed to get to 80-90 on the M1? Was it 4 in the morning? Also, watch out, it's a smart Mway and the cameras are so close together they are sending tickets to each other.

We drove back on Monday morning 9 till 11am. J28 - J13. Hardly any traffic. It was well weird.

Well aware of the cameras BTW.

Monday was quieter than normal, I suspect a lot of people tagged on maybe Mon and Tues to the silly Queen holiday to make it an extended break utilizing the extra day we got. I was going to do the same but someone was off so couldn't do it.

Well weird indeed. Monday morning is usually a car park on the M1 in the usual hotspots, the Derby junction, Leicester Forest services, etc. It's a horrible road, the A1 is far better if you have the choice.

Apart from Peterborough Services which is the 10th Circle of Hell, unimaginable in its awfulness, even to Dante.
Spent the last 3 months stopping at Pboro Svcs o Friday night s for a pee, respite from the A1 northbound at teatime on a Friday and sometimes a nap. It's OK for that. Easy in and out at least.

Clearly, sir has never stopped at Swan Valley, Chieveley, Grantham North or Gordano services. Peterborough Extra is a positive garden of delights compared to those khazis.
