The optical input on my Mac Mini seems to be rather flaky. It works ok for a few days/weeks and then the sound becomes intermittently choppy as if it's clocking at the wrong sampling rate. Removing and reinserting the plug fixes the issue, so I'm assuming gravity slowly causes micro-movements in the 3.5mm plug's alignment in the socket that causes the light pulses to misfire?

I broke both optical inputs on my M-DAC using cables where the connectors were just slightly oversized. As mentioned above there is too much variation in the size of the connectors.
