Hi All

Which tracks do you use when you want to assess a system for bass?

my current favourites are:

Kraftwerk - Tour de France track 7
Metallica - Enter sandman
Mindy Smith - Jolene

Any suggestions of real music (not test tracks/samplers) and readily available recordings, CD or Vinyl?

Thanks
GB

Try Massive Attack's Mezzanine (Angel & Teardrop), Hans Zimmer's Inception OST, Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3, Tchaikovsky, 1812 overture.

Brand X - Collapsar on Moroccan Roll
Dream Theater - almost anything, especially Honor Thy Father on Train of Thought, and anything on Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Jonas Hellborg - It's the Pits on Elegant Punk. Not easy to find.

Sly and. Robbie - strip to the bone
All of it, front to back
It's actually the only cd I own

The mighty Fall - "Blindness" - almost any version will do

Cream - "I'm So Glad" - the "Goodbye" live version

Definitely "the touch" by Yello
I also love Grace Jones Nightclubbing album. Not "over the top" bass levels but sheer quality.
Are you looking for just "the most/loudest" bass end, or quality of bass reproduction/control?
Some of Bach's Church organ recitals have seriously powerful bass.
