From admittedly very superficial information, I've always found Zoroastrianism attractive (the constant struggle between good and evil). But I wonder how they know, or have established by convention, his birthday if he was born "between 500 and 1500 BCE."

Good point. Then again it is only 4 days after the equinox so they might have mentioned that. The ancients were into measuring days, stars and the like. But you are right, a 1000 year window is pretty big. With a bit more start information astronomers would be able to work it out reasonably precisely, you would hope. Certainly better than 1000 years.
