Nice cheat with the double Zep lp. ;)

Better in the music room me thinks.

Probably need some Gram parsons, T Rex and Bowie in there. It's all but impossible to do that list and it can change on any given day!

In no particular order after the first 3... which are probably my top 3 of all time and are also in no particular order:

Sinatra - At the Sands

Prefab Sprout - Swoon

Van Morrison - Astral Weeks

Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto - Getz & Gilberto

Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

Elvis Costello - Get Happy

Little Feat - Greatest Hits (sorry can't choose a particular album)

Led Zeppelin - IV

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the key of life

Billy Bragg - Brewing up with Billy Bragg

SO difficult to choose and subject to change depending on mood and day etc ;)

Would be different any day I answered, but right now -

Melody Gardot – My One And Only Thrill
Tom Waits – Small Change
Paul Simon - Graceland
Beatles – Help!
Sasha Ilyukevich & the Highly Skilled Migrants – Ha Numa
Beck – Mutations
Joni Mitchell – Song To A Seagull
REM – Automatic for the People
Love – Forever Changes
Joanna Newsome – Have One On Me

Get happy is one of my favourite ever records too.

Already I'm thinking "how could I have left out such and such!? and then there's...."
But then I'd have to remove some of the original top 10.... A fiendish task from the OP :D

In no particular order:

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Jefferson Airplane - Crown of Creation
Beatles - Revolver
Led Zeppelin - I
Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
Blur - Blur
Bowie - Space Oddity
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Philip Glass - Akhnaten
PJ Harvey - Stories from the City..
Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn

oops, that was 11, sorry!

stevie, songs in the key of life
marvin gaye, whats going on

everything else sort of comes after those two.. in fact, they're not really albums, more like 2 more Bibles or the 2 slabs inside the Ark of the Covenant

Not a lot of classical music, nor indeed modern music in those lists, are there? In fact, there's not a lot of what people like to call world music, either.

I'm not criticising, by the way, just lamenting the narrowness of our tastes.

IMHO there has been nothing made in the last 20 years or so that is SO good as to qualify for any top 10. Good yes but not THAT good! YMMV

Personally, I find most of what is known as "world music" to be very repetitive.... kind of gets into a groove and then does nothing more but slight changes to whatever happened in the first 10 seconds for the next 10 minutes.... not my scene at all.... I guess most of my favourite stuff could be called fairly musically complicated... chromatic progressions, key changes etc.. but that's how I like it ;)

This week, my top ten albums of all time are:-

Roy Buchanan - A Street Called Straight
Propaganda - A Secret Wish
The The - Infected
Burial - Untrue
Led Zeppelin - CODA
DeadMaus - Random Album Title
Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works
Pet Shop Boys - Please
Chet Atkins - Down Home

Next week should see Aphex replaced with Nurse With Wound, Roy makes way for Danny Gatton, Dead K's replaced by Bad Brains, PSB with Thomas Dolby, etc etc etc

Even a Top 100 is difficult. I need a coffee now.
