Not LS3/5as.

Since Graham Audio released the LS3/5, I’ve been intrigued with the idea of owning a pair.
I did buy a pair of their Chartwell LS3/5as to hear what they sounded like.
Excellent, but I was still taken with the idea of ‘3/5s.
So I set to work investigating the project.

I was fortunate to obtain a pair of new 15 ohm crossovers.
As for B110s, new Falcon ones were available and the crossovers would work with them.

I was very fortunate when a pair of NOS T27s became available.
The type used in the early BBC LS3/5s.
If any changes were required to the crossovers to match the tweeters, I had a spare set of
capacitors, etc. from Falcon.

As for cabinets, I acquired a brand new pair of Rogers ones, with 9mm thickness walls.
I had a pair of new Falcon Acoustics baffles, one of which required some paint work, as it was scratched.

New Tygan grilles came with the cabinets.

I’ve just finished the speakers and I’m listening to them now.

All the LS3/5a attributes are there.

That well known, almost addictive, midrange.
A top end which is smooth and open.
The bass is a revelation.
Subjectivity deep, not unlike my Stirling V3s.

I am well pleased.

When they’re completely finished ( badges, etc. ) I’ll get some pictures put up on PFM.
