  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

I third that WTF. Not something I was expecting.

PS Sky suggesting she’s just had enough. I bet she is absolutely monstered day-in day-out, especially since entering the far-right’s GC/anti-trans culture war. I bet her email account is about 5000 death threats a day.

Nor wanting but 'I've just had enough' sounds fair.
Recent years have been a long line of frustrations and knock-backs engineered by a London based right wing parliament who apparently are frightened, misogynistic and bullying all.

The transgender reforms did for her unfortunately - the theory didn't work when it came to the very first practical example.
I can't blame her for walking personally, it was a thankless task.

I really hope that wasn’t it. If it was it walks us all a big step closer to fascism and as a group of nations we have lost a powerful campaigning voice for human rights.

I suspect it may have been Transgender reforms that have finished her off - I know some SNP members who weren't happy, I think it's a difficult issue for some people who are liberal otherwise.

Well that's Independence Scuppered for the time being. Unless there a successful long-term Labour government after the next UK election, I cannot see how the divergence in political culture between Scotland and England can be fixed other than independence.

Gender recognition was not the hill to die on, it was well intentioned but the dismissal of any criticism of it as reactionary was simply incorrect and unfair - there were legitimate concerns which were thrown into sharp relief by that rape conviction. But the upcoming political crisis over bottle deposit scheme and the ongoing CalMac ferries fiasco are going to get much worse for the SNP.

A shame I feel. Pity we do not have such a capable leader in Westminster.

That is precisely why the far-right/Conservative Party are using this tiny minority of highly vulnerable people as a ball in their increasingly fascist power-grab. It is highly calculated and we needed people like Sturgeon to call it out. I actually feel sick about this. I fear today will be quite a significant day in the downfall of the UK as a tolerant liberal society. The Tories have made it absolutely clear they intend to fight the next election as a far-right culture war, they have actually said it out loud (see Lee Anderson in The Mirror yesterday), and we need everyone with a spine to stand firm against that. Sturgeon was a very powerful and vocal ally for many minority groups.

Culture war is all the Tories have left, they can't claim to be pro business or competent on the economy any more...

Really can’t blame her - a pretty unenviable job if you really take it seriously unlike someone like BJ who was primarily interested in power (i.e. the abuse of power) and shedloads of money.

It was about her 'immature' theory based policy being overlaid on a real case (that of the prisoner) and falling apart at the first hurdle. The whole subject deserves more than a cursory sound bite based 'one side of A4' paper.

It would have been the straw that broke the camels back though; how long can one person continue in a role like that with all the emergent issues topped with a thick layer of hate messaging?
