I use a piece of leather off cut from local upholstery shop ( sofa leather is good ) cut it to size..suede side up..works much better than my linn felt mat.

If you're worried about ink rubbing off onto your records, then you could just use newsprint paper (something I have loads of because I use it as firelighters for the wood stove). I've decided to give the "pressure points" (£20) from MCRU a try - because I have money to burn and this is a hobby after all. I've had them for a week and haven't been compelled to try them yet - so that probably tells its own story!
