national audio show birmingham 2017 !

Just been on the Birmingham show website, very excited about Lockwood making a return. My Dad had a pair with 10'' tannoy drivers when I was a kid ( yes a long time ago) in the 60's. I'm keen to see what they have done. I will be there.

brilliant and hoping that one of the new hifi dealers in brum can exhibit there too . always good to encourage as so much has been decimated by internet and if you ever want a demo there is nowhere to go !!!

Ultimate Stream will be demonstrating the Kii Three, using the latest update of the Rockna Wavedream NET Streamer as the source.

fascinating day today at the hyatt hotel and icc in birmingham . lovely venue next to a canal and the symphony hall . bit quiet to start with but got busier .

there was a thread here about the lockwood speakers and they were there with a glass case giving some of the history . nostalgic

had a chance for a listen to the kii 3 speakers in the ultimate stream room . on some quadraspire stands . listened to rachmaninov number 2 and it was just sublime , for a standmount i can see why they are popular .

one of the surprises for me was a kerr acoustics k300 ribbon standmount. recent company but they were extremely good standmounts . i could happily live with them and well worth a listen

the new b&w 700 series were there [replacement for the cm ] and the 703s2 was playing in the bluesound room with lots of mqa comparisons

also playing the b&w room was the 704s2 which was very discrete for a floorstander but sounded good

the big wharfdale diamond 11.5 was there but sadly not playing . i understand there are no plans to play it at shows but i hope they think again beause at 1k its a LOT of speaker for your money

the show does need a shedload more marketing to make it busier so i hope next year they take this on board but the icc staff were plentiful and all very helpful and hopefully it will go from strength to strengh

Yes, the history stuff was interesting, but the speakers were a crushing disappointment. Fabulous dynamics, but a horribly muddled presentation. :(

Which ones disappointed you? If it was the big Majors, you were probably the only one who thought that but it's interesting to get another view. The 12 inch were not so good for me either, clearly needing more work.
.
I was helping, unpaid, purely as a friend and owner of Lockwoods. Some guys came back 3 times as they were so impressed. The last visitors didn't want to leave and asked for a lock in!

You are 100% right on that. Signposting was also very poor.

yes one of the best speakers of the show . i think they were around 2.2k . apparently the director of GIK acoustics adjusted the acoustic damping and the postion and made a real difference . he referred to that in his talk .

just seen this from ozzric on another forum

Kerr Acoustic: Domoing their new K100 and K300 speakers. The K300's sounding very nice. They impressed so much, that my friend who went with me bought some at show price (£1.8k). The product is so new he has to wait for them to be built. The crossovers are hand built with hand wound inductors and point to point connections.

KerrAcoustic is a family run business who were all in attendance and very passionate about the products. I could live with a pair of these K300s.www.kerracoustic.com

Thought Kerr Acoustic K300 was to harsh in the upper mid - played Stir it up by Bob Marley
Just to harsh in upper mid.

Prob is crossover point is low at ~1.8khz.

I just think the xover design isn't nailed on them.

the Transmission Line bass is though, and with good amps they hold onto music well for a 2 way - impressive.

Just a touch harsh - so wouldn't recommend yet.
