Don't let that stop you, it doesn't the other 'experts'Agreed, and that’s hardly a Naim thing. I’m intrigued by the R&D costs of sticking a few known to the company bits in a 1980s box but have no expertise in this field.
Never the less, this was an opportunity to attract in fresh blood, instead its a super expensive item, naim arn't interested in new young folk coming in, they are interested selling to the diminishing few willing to spend such silly money on a such a basic amp. I haven't worked in R&D all my life and that's my assertion.
The overall build is so very similar to a Nap-100,
A great power amp, love mine, was it £790 or thereabouts ?
* Actually, they are easy to articulate. If cheaper, a Nait 50 would be a nice way to introduce the young 'uns to Naim, just as the Nait was for me when I wuz a wee lad. But if the product is aimed at die-hard Naimies who have supported the company for decades, why not give 'em a break?
Take all the cost out and they won't get rich from it.
It's not just R&D costs. Let's take a practical example.
Let's say I can find all the parts for an amp for £200 (I wish). Then I spend another £200 on staff, power, taxes, factory, rates, depreciation of assets, etc...
Probably that, plus a Rega Brio. As bonus, after an espresso or two, Brio will offer a calming influence compared to 'The Naim Sound'.What is hard to figure out is for the price of Nait 50, you can buy a 80 pounds fully chromed, stainless steel chassis, dual boiler espresso machine made in Germany... But the Nait is a cute little thing!
would be great if they replaced the entry NAIT ie 5si
