NAC72 w/o 321 boards

hi lads, I just sold the 321 boards from my NAC72 and am awaiting the arrival of their NJ versions. in the meantime, though, I wonder whether I can still listen to the pre without damaging it with the relavant (in- and output) pins connected in place of the 321s? to note, I of course did this and have good sonics but, and naturally, at a considerably reduced volume. so the question really is whether can I turn up the volume or not (dunno how it might adversely affect e.g. the 721 cards back in the circuit)? if it's silly just tell me but I really don't know for sure and won't like to thrash the 72. thanks for your input

The 321s are the gain sages within the 72.
The 729s are the time aligned filters.

As you have found you have very little gain as you are just getting the signal come the source with no gain.
I don’t see why turning up the volume would do any harm BUT try it slowly.
Why not PM Mark at Wich Hat Audio, he will know.
