Muslimgauze

A huge omission, I haven't got any Muslimgauze records. Mainly because there's far too many to choose from. Mixing It played a track this week which was, frankly, brilliant, but I need guidance where to start. Any suggestions?

I was interested after hearing the track they played on Mixing It. There is a reasonable overview on Epitonic with a selection of mp3s. It sounds like he produced a truly prodigious output before his untimely death in '99 - up to 120 albums-worth!

I have a lot of them at home but I'd have to check them out - what aspect did you like - he had different "eras": the ambient repetiveness with sampled voice snatches, distorted, almost squarepusherish drumming, almost noise-like industrial type, or what? There's a yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/islamaphonia2/.

I should also mention www.pretentious.net - there's a big collection of articles, and a reasonable breakdown of Muslimgauze phases at http://www.pretentious.net/Muslimgauze/articles/ambience.htm
