  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Very sad news, but I’ll happily take 97 if its on the table. That is a good run. A remarkable life. RIP.

Grew up with Murray Walker as commentator watching F1 in the 80’s. His partnership with the late great James Hunt was and remains unforgettable.

    RIP Murray. A true legend.
We bumped into him in a supermarket near Spa, when we were there for the 1988 Belgian GP, after the qualifying on Saturday. He autographed our programs. A very nice man.

A great life well lived. I seem to remember his comments were the kiss of death to drivers at one point!
    RIP Murray

He was great. He has now gone round his final penultimate lap but one.

...and it's Walker way out ahead by at least 10 commentators length, surely he has that telegram in the bag now...

RIP Murray. Did he not basically invent motor racing commentary as we know it..?

I used to know someone who got to know him slightly via their being involved in running Formula Ford (or I am pretty sure it was Formula Ford), apparently he was a daft as a brush, in a very pleasant sort of way, and had little memory for much at all technical.

    An utterly likeable bloke though.

    RIP.

Always came across a really nice guy, a great lover and promoter of F1, the best commentator on F1 there has been.

As has been said when Murray Walker and James Hunt were together commentating it was something else, will always remember when he poked Nigel Mansell's in the head.

    RIP Murray

RIP, he was motorsport in my youth, always entertaining. He’ll long be remembered.

Commentating was actually a side line for a good part of his life. He was a life long ‘adman’ who came up with a number of memorable slogans, including I believe, ‘a Mars a day helps you work, rest & play’.

I like the fact he had a day job
