Missing/deleted threads

I have no issue with stuff being deleted, but why should my likes be deleted also.

Life is just not fair, so there

Any restarted threads will obviously be deleted. Folk need to be aware this is a family/work friendly forum; it is a place for music and audio discussion, photography and a record shop, these should seldom if ever need moderation. The off topic room has been looking a tad shabby of late and hasn’t been doing the wider site many favours IMHO.

If folk really need to post lazy drunken gibberish or entrenched echo-chamber politics surely Twitter or Facebook is a better platform than a specialist audio/music forum? I’d like to turn it all down a notch to be honest.

I don't often often have much to add in the Off Topic section, but it seems to me that the pub is probably the best place to discuss the subjects in some of the thankfully removed threads.

As a youngster my late [English] grandfather [who died in 1967] told me that it was not a good idea to discuss religion or politics in public. He was right fifty odd years ago and would still be right now.

There are a places for such discussions, and a nice public space such as this is not one of them. Politics at a Party meeting or rally [or canvassing], religion in church or Sunday school, and drunkenness in the pub!

Best wishes from George

Tony, you've been known to contribute yourself on occasion...

Absolutely, and I accept sometimes I don’t set the best example! That doesn’t make what I say wrong.

I have contributed very little over the past few days as I’ve had friends up and had a chest infection, yet I have been confronted with around 40 post reports, all concerning two or three threads, and mostly relating trolling, cyclic argument, ad hominem and other things that anyone who has sufficient IQ to read the site AUP and FAQ should be aware of by now. It is irritating as it takes huge amounts of time to deal with. Not all post reports are deemed worthy of intervention, but the ones that are usually involve having to read and prune-out whole chunks of a thread.

Being rather naive in these forum niceties, I also wondered, not only what had happened to my jokes, but why an alert was flashing yet no alert was registered. I had no idea there was a celestial moderator who could 'poof' away threads 'just like that', with no explanation.

Not that I was involved except inasmuch as to post humorous (or not) comments where I spot an opportunity, but I do fail to see why these two threads were any worse/more controversial or inflammatory than others, especially politically biassed ones. Oh well, c'est la vie; hanging by a thread, so to speak.:)
