Meridian 557 with no shorting plugs - how to run balanced?

I have a 557 which I now want to use in balanced mode but have misplaced the original shorting plugs for the phono sockets - is it just a case of connecting signal to ground in a couple of phono plugs and putting these in the sockets, or does anything else need doing?

thats exactly what I did- bought 2 phono plugs from maplin and soldered the signal core to the bent-in gound solder pin. Nice and cheap!
