In fact the 5 series glass top is bonded to the top/sides - it's an aluminium 'U' . The entire thing is removed by sliding it off the back. To do this you will need a torx driver (4 mm from memory but just buy the entire clip on set for your screwdriver) and you have to undo all the screws around the perimeter of the rear plate (top & sides) and all the screws on the sides of the baseplate. There are lots. Then just slide it off the back with the unit sat on it's feet on the table pushing the rear plate with your thumbs while hoding the sides with your fingers.
You'll also need a flat blade screwdriver of some sort to unlock the 3 little plastic clips at the top of the rear panel, which hold in place the slotted plastic strip on the top of the casing near the back edge - once this is removed you'll find another 3 of the torx screws to undo in order to get the top off (as well as all the others already mentioned). Be prepared to find out how much of the reassuring weight of the unit is in the top cover.
