  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

    Vaguely remember that shenanigans.
While on the subject of Mary Whitehouse, I'll throw this little ditty in the ring, based on her.

Once they got away from ChinnChap, and embraced their heavy rock leanings Sweet faded away.

Loved Sweet - For hard rock credentials look no further than 'Rock n Roll Disgrace' , B-side of 'Ballroom Blitz':D

Indeed, the brutal truth was that, despite the musicianship, they just couldn’t write a decent song.

This, IMO, was their finest hour. Surely Freddie Mercury sat up and took notice. And Mick Tucker’s nailed down beat providing the template for Motörhead.

The four of them wrote the above B side
    Ah yes, good choice there.
Tucker's no slouch on RNRD either.

Yeah they did manage a few half decent tunes- Fox On The Run, the early heavy rock B sides, Set Me Free. But overall, the albums were pretty mediocre stuff.

Yeah loads of filler on most of the LP's, a lot of B-sides were great as you say.

Their November '74 set for Musikladen is a bit of a stoater.

Huge Who influences coming through there.

I always thought "Sweet FA" owed a fair bit to "Immigrant Song".

Possibly a good thing Mary didn’t see them performing Blockbuster.

Yeah both Zep and The Who were major influences.
