Manchester’s greatest band…

Forget Joy Division, The Smiths…
Four unbelievably talented musicians, song writers, producers, engineers…

Nope. Van der Graaf Generator.

All of the musical & lyrical skills of 10cc but without the clever-dickery. ;)

CWS (Manchester) of course. How many times did 10cc or Joy Division win the British Open brass band championship?

I’ll go for the 1962 line-up if you want me to be more specific.

Second place - the Hallé Orchestra (under Charles Groves of course.)

Looks like (in true pfm style!) we are allowed a list, so I’ll add Gogo Penguin.

I obviously need to add Magazine to my list too. More important than Buzzcocks for me.

Was just about to post Magazine this very second.

Probably the best Manchester album:

I never got 10cc. Predictably it would indeed be Joy Division, Fall, Durutti Column, Smiths for me, and I’d throw in The Passage as a wild-card.
Have you watched any of the 10cc documentaries? Surprising who Graham Gouldman was writing for in the 60s. Including The yardbirds, the hollies. Eric Stewart was also having hits before they joined as 10cc. Well worth watching.

Eric Stewart was in the Mindbenders in 1963!
