Lintone Audio over and out

As luck would have it I was at Lintone Audio this afternoon to pick up some speakers. So I received the news of their closure and was able to thank people I’ve dealt with over the years, before the email formally announcing it dropped into my inbox.

I’d been prepared for a move from the middle of Gateshead but it seems that this fell through and closure was the only option.

FWIW the staff advised me to keep my eyes peeled for a new Rega dealer in the area. The thought of having nothing left but the deep pile carpet and wall to wall Naim’s world of Peter Tyson is hard to contemplate.

It was hoped to sell the business and therefore securing the future of all employees. However, it was not to be and the sale of the company as a going concern to a third party collapsed. Achieving such an outcome is no longer a realistic possibility and the business will now close

It has over the years been a wonderful journey, and during that journey have met countless numbers of very engaging clients who have supported and promoted this business and, would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude for all the support shown over those years.

Yep that's where I got my HD580 cans in the sale they were having. IIRC there were other branches also.

(AND BEYOND) and check them out . As a very satisfied customer I cannot speak too highly of the service and products on offer.

I'm sure they are great but they don't have a workshop. My system is finished, just needs care and maintenance, I was looking forward to nothing more that dropping the turntable off every couple of years to swap the cartridge.

As things stand that is now going to take a drive down to Stockton.

Gilson went more than a decade ago. As with Tony and Lintone, not a failing business, just retirement.

Me too. Bought a Linn, A&R 60, Heybrook system from them in 1981 and subsequently MF pre/power amps, Nakamichi cassette deck, NAD tuner and other bits until I moved away in 1992. Still have the Linn.
