Linn Classik (original) comes good again!

My Tisbury mark 2 passive pre suddenly died a couple of days ago (something failed in the selector switch I think). Whilst it's off with Wes at Tisbury (great outfit to deal with) I found myself short of a pre for my main system.

Just my luck that I sold my (modified to 32.5) 32 just last week! So all I had really was my very old Linn Classik (the original without tuner) which I stuck in in pre-only mode:

TT/Arkless/Classik/Avondale Power/Kefs.

I'm astonished at what a great job it's doing. Absolutely no loss of detail and a total grip on the music. It could be a Kairn tbh. I know it's no great shakes as an integrated, but as a pre amp it's really something. Even has a remote!

Anyone else had a similar experience?

I have the same model of Classic that you have, the one without the tuner. It is a competent integrated for use in a secondary system. I tried the Classic as a preamp once and it was quite good. I used it with a Linn LK100 and had no complaints. Now that you've raised this issue I just might connect my Classic with one of my other power amps.
