Lid up or down when playing vinyl ?

That is not what I was saying. How does a vibrating acrylic lid damp vibrations? And there is no need to swear...

I made the same point that you (with many more ponderous words) made - that attaching a large resonant mass to something which is designed to pick up tiny vibrations is not a good idea.

If you have to have one on, then down is probably better (although there is some dispute about that)

No lid ( Nottingham Analogue) aren’t there enough complications without adding another one? On the other hand it’s probably playing less time than not, so a cover of some sort makes sense.

This is another vote for taking it off when playing records and putting it back when you are not - on LP12 and RP3 anyway.
