Wish I'd known about that AUP stealth mode before now!!
It makes perfect sense... nice heavy well balanced platter and reasonable bearing just needing a drive system not based on an early 30's corn threshing machine
Remember that the BBC got rid of their 401's and replaced them with.... Technics SP10's! I believe the Gates decks were sold for spares to Harley Davidson dealers.... one of whom was quoted as saying "it's a bit agricultural innit"
