Kuzma Stogi cueing lever

Paraheadache

pfm Member
I was listening to an LP and I was aware of the sound gradually becoming distorted to the point where the arm just slid across the disc. I eventually noticed the cueing lever was slowly rising after putting it down in the normal way.
This is the first time and it's played perfectly 12 years or so.
Has anyone come across this? Any advice would be appreciated.
This is not the S version.
Thanks,
John

A possibility.. sometimes the grease/oil within the lift/lower mechanism thickens up - e.g. this occasionally causes the arm to stick on the descent. Being careful not to knock the arm itself, grip the lever & rest and gently but firmly pump it up & down about 20-30 times - this should free up the oil and might well cure your problem. I've had an incidence of a sticky descent on my SME IV so it's not uncommon on decent quality arms.
