Kate bush remastered on vinyl

Received a copy of remastered aerial on vinyl last night. Sounds rubbish, flat and 2d. Was really looking forward to switching off to this. Anybody else have experience of the reissue sets and sound quality?

Part of me wonders that I am so used to listening to this on cd? However, I play vinyl most of the time and most of my collection sounds fab. I’m used to the odd Crap pressing and some modern releases have sounded awful but had high hopes for this.

Anyway, it’s going back. Am debating ordering another one, have I just been unlucky?

We’ve the original on vinyl and it sounds really good. I am guessing you’ve maybe just got a duff copy, since I would be surprised if they weren’t pretty close to the original...

It may indeed be a crap mastering/pressing, but if it's a 180g or 200g, your VTA will have changed, with the arm lowered at the back, giving an effect of losing sparkle and becoming a bit bassy. It it's a 9" arm, even more so. Easy to check VTA; arm should be parallel or marginally up at the back when resting on the record (depends upon the cart's SRA)

Also worth checking VTF (should be towards the higher point in the range) as that would have effectively been changed too. VTA more important, though.

I’ve not got the Aerial on vinyl, but I have the first two box sets of the remastered vinyl albums and they seem to have done a good job. Lots of energy and subtle detail, and better than I remember the original albums back in the day (albeit not heard on a system as good as I have now). The vinyl is silent, too, and they seem to be up there with the CDs for SQ. IMHO.

Spinning the Fish people 2018 remaster now and it sounds great, there are 4 variants maybe your one is poor, dunno.

I've found remasters to be hit and a miss. They can sound great or dead, just depends. No idea why you'd want to listen to Aerial in any form though ;0) Not one of the wonderful Ms Bush's best efforts in my opinion.

I have or had copies of the orginals on LP and I never thought the sound was brilliant. Maybe it was because they were orginal budget versions by the time I got them

You are correct, but it’s very relaxing.

Of the remasters I only have The Red Shoes which I have to say is a big improvement on the original release ( although Eat The Music is beyond saving, still sounds like a digital hash). I don't know if the other remasters are worth buying, my early pressings sound great and not sure that any 'improvements' are needed. TRS and Sensual World were both recorded digitally which Kate has since voiced her dissatisfaction with... Has anybody compared pressings of The Sensual World?
