yep. A one-off drummer and one of the greats for me. Never sounded like he was playing learnt patterns / rudiments etc. Totally 'organic'.

Time to listen to Piscean Dance or Oceanus ... or anything with him on really ! Saying that, I didn't really hear any of his work after the Masqualero group recordings ...

Seem to remember an interview with Garbarek, where his relatively low profile presence on Nude Ants and other live recordings by the European Quartet was commented upon, and he replied to the effect that he was so entranced by the interplay between Christensen and Jarrett that he didn't want to butt in!

RIP Jon. On so many fine ECM recordings. I'm sure I saw him on stage more than once.
