John Martyn on BBC4 - advance warning of Richard Thompson prog too

RichardH

Sorry if you missed it - didn't get chance to post as I came across it as it started.

Anyone else see it?

...And next week they're showing the one on Richard Thompson they showed about a year or so ago, that made me go out and buy a freeview box when I saw I'd missed it. Friday 10pm ish.

Yes, great program (esp. if you're a fan!). I stilll find it amusing that such an objectionable, dislikable, oafish drunk can make such beautiful music - but then I guess that was the whole point of the program..?
Good to see his is playing again - and is currently mid tour.
I have most of his stuff, & had been waiting for the show for a few months!!

Good sites here to find out more about him & his music:

Yes Richard - I enjoyed the programme.

Quite a revelation to me. I've loved his music for many years, but did not realise that he was such a wild and reckless character.

It's reminded me to dig out 'Small Hours' and play it in the dark again. Wonderfully atmospheric music. And I've ordered and just received a newly remastered 'Solid Air'.

Nice to see that he hadn't lost his magic at his 'come-back gig' in the local pub.

And as for Richard Thompson this week - yes indeed - not to be missed.

He (JM) was on "Later" on Saturday, too.

The Rich T program on Friday is followed by a June Tabor concert.
