Jazz Reissues (Individual and short runs)

I'm afraid Craft is just doing a deplorable job with their deep and wide back catalog. Multi-colored vinyl and stupid box sets. I mean, do we really need a huge complete Wattstax '72 box set? With cups and T shirts? C'mon!

The latest from New Land Records - out of my affordability range I'm afraid.

6LP box set from Dorothy Ashby, pre-order. 1000 limit.

A six record set of Dorothy Ashby plus musicians like Frank Wess is a bit too much harp and flute for me! Pleasant enough and it seems well recorded, but a too laid back for me as well. Real Gone has just reissued her first record ‘In A Minor Groove’

Her best record though is arguably ‘Afro-Harping’ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09R2WRMLB/?tag=pinkfishmedia-21
but this one is copyright avoidance rubbish. I have been streaming it on Amazon Music.

There is an Ashby CD box set for £6.47. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J2ASW7W/?tag=pinkfishmedia-21

Wow! That's a surprising box set. Though I guess there has been more interest in Dorothy Ashby in recent years.

I have an original Jazzland stereo copy of Soft Winds which is a pretty awful pressing! I bet this sounds a lot better.

My favourite is The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby which is a bit bonkers.

At the top end of full price - £40 a pop.

Seems that Kevin Gray + master tapes = 40% surcharge
