Found a free player that records AAC radio streams as-is. Handy for R6.

If I'm not mistaken, this means that quality is not lost.
The resulting files seem to be the adts format, so couldn't play them directly on my sqbox touch. Ended up buying some conversion prog to put them into wav or flac format. There's also a free converter (Hamster), but seems a bit slower than the one I bought ('aac mp3 converter' from Hoo technologies).
Still less bother than using the line-out to my laptop though, and sounds fine.
