Wasn't there the textual "Lynx" before Mosaic and Netscape?
I recall sitting in university, finding all kinds of places on the fresh new www (and gopher?) instead of advancing my thesis in theoretical parallel computing (which I never ended, switched to a different subject). I'd never have guessed then this is just a preview to the thousands of hours I've wasted since
