Indispensable

Assuming you don't mean a polystyrene one, a coffee cup can be recycled if the plastic film lining is removed. This is not done widely and which is why you're local council won't accept them. There are specialists who can (https://simplycups.co.uk/collections-coverage/) but by the time a solution comes on line that more recycling plants could use, we'll all be drinking from reusable cups. :)

You’d be surprised what cannot be recycled contrary to popular opinion.

Think this depends upon the local authority, as recent media coverage of the shambles which is recycling in this country indicates that each authority has its own idea. Broadlands (here) is, by all accounts, one of the most efficient in the country. ANY kind of (clean, dry) paper/card is accepted.

I remember calling my local council and asking which plastics I could recycle.

After a while, they came back with the answer: '1' and '2' only and apologised it had taken so long to answer (30 mins) because it's not a question they get asked much. :(

Bloody hell Seeker! Do you live in the middle of nowhere?
I do and can recycle 1 and 2.

East Northamptonshire (remember to set your clocks back 30 years when you enter).

In fairness, we recycle as much as we can and compost a lot of what we can't.

Toilet paper should be banned too. Asian arse squirters have been the answer since domestic water supply was invented.

Dirty smelly westerners.

Aka the bum gun.
Not sure that squirt of ice cold water in the West would be overly welcome
Great in Asia though.
Well those salmon pink bidets were all the rage in the 70s, so there was interest. Better than the alternative Izal Medicated, I suppose.

But didn't those have fixed taps? That's one the ways they always weirded me out.

Without the angle it's just a crap shoot.
