I tried a 5m usb earlier this week on my dac which has just had a XMOS Async usb interface fitted, it worked ok but I did hear random clicks using PM/iTunes which disappeared when I swapped back to a short cable.
Could that be the cable or its length? I'm figuring that it's not going to be expensive to give it a try anyway, although the ethernet-based USB extenders look interesting and can certainly extend the USB range way beyond what I need...
