Hi guys, I bought an OLED TV last October and love it but at the moment I have the TV hooked up to my Yamaha reciever & stereo speakers via an optical cable and frankly the sound is okay but I don't think it's much better than the TV's speakers which are a 2-1 set up so I've decided to go down the AV/Integrated amp rabbit hole so I wonder if someone could advise which integrated amp with a HT bypass would be suitable for driving my Elac BS-312 speakers?
I currently have a Yamaha stereo receiver a RN-803D but unfortunately it doesn't have a pre-ins or HT direct etc and I'm not sure that it's actually capable of driving the speakers properly so I'm going to buy an AV amp with pre-outs and an integrated stereo amp either the Audiolab 600A or the Musical Fidelity M2Si obviously I'd love a Rega Elicit-R which would likely be prefect but it's a bit out of my budget.
Feature wise the Audiolab appeals but the MF seems a great amp with better numbers but less features ie no headphone socket or digital inputs etc.
Anyway my speakers are a difficult load they have
Sensitivity: 87 dB at 2.83 v/1m
Nominal impedance: 4 Ω; minimum 3.4 Ω @ 280 Hz
I don't want to throw £600 at an amp if it isn't up to the task of driving the speakers so I would be prepared to go for any other amp with a HT bypass that has the ability to drive the speakers properly.
I'm also considering moving on the Elacs and buying other front speakers and a centre speaker and surrounds (probably Elac too).
I also have the Elac stands but I don't use the stands the speakers are on a hifi unit.
Thanks
Tony
PS, here's the Yamaha's specs
