Huge long shot...
I seem to remember a freebie CD probably from the late 90s which was given away by one of the Hifi mags of the time.
Included tracks by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Blowzabella and possibly Jonathan Richman amongst others.
Don't suppose anyone has a copy they'd part with?

Well, there was a sampler included with the Ken Garner book In Session Tonight, Strange Fruit released one commercially, and I seem to recall a compact cassette being given away with Uncut, Mojo or summat like that
