Had a cayin Ha-1a and it was magical with the AKG's. downsized to a Little Dot Mkiii and it is very nice. Might be available in your budget new but definitely secondhand. The Cayin would be very hard to find and cost a lot more.

Matrix M Stage Usb. I´m so happy with it with my Q701, with a decent dac in and 4 gain setup. Under 200 pounds, hard to beat.
