Gyro SE vs Radius 7

Which do you prefer. The Technics or the gyrodec?
Tough shout, the Techy is more convenient to use if I want to just play the odd side with the hinged lid, the Gyro I only use if it’s gonna be a long session spinning vinyl, usually on the weekend. Had the Gyro about 20 years the Techy for a couple, if I had to choose one to keep I think it’d be the Gyro, best sound I think the Techy just edges it with the little tweaks and the Bronze is a fantastic cart, works really well with the Luxman but I’d always wanted a Gyro as a young lad. The XX2 is a great cart too, had lots of DV over the years, it’s a little darker emphasises the bass a bit more than the Bronze.

Decks are —> Gyro SE/HR/PU7/XX2Mk2. 1200G/Tenuto/HS-1a/Isonoe/Cadenza Bronze.

I agree that the bass can be different between the gyro & rp8.
To my taste, I found the rp8 a tiny bit thin & lightweight at the bass end, but one man’s thin & lightweight is another man’s fast & detailed.
Also, unless you’ve got the same cart on both tt’s comparisons can be difficult. And the vast majority of rp8’s will have an apheta on them, which is not a cart you see on many non-Rega set ups.
As I said earlier, any tt at £2-3k should be very good indeed, including the rp8. It will come down to personal preference rather than tt x being definitively “better” than tt y or z.

The designer retired fairly recently, shouldn't really cause a problem, I would think they would be easily repairable. I haven't looked, but there may even be a specialist in Germany.
