Goodbye to the Lear Jet

Ahh, that's a little bit sad. The Learjet is an icon. Especially the original Lear 23, like in the James Brown picture. Tip tanks are sooo sexy.

Even worse is the reason for its demise:

"Its owner Bombardier has seen sales decline among its wealthy customers who are now demanding bigger, more comfortable private aircraft to carry them around the world."

The wealth divide is now such that a Learjet is simply not good enough for the ultra-rich.

That is sad...

I bet there will be loads of commercial jets going for a song soon too - maybe time to upgrade!

It's hardly 'goodbye', the things will be flying low-rent Russian mafiosi, Columbian drugs barons, two-bit business executives and African charity NGOs around for years to come.

There always was and always will be. Will there be massively more now? Perhaps not as many as you'd think - new aircraft orders have been cancelled or delayed by the shed-load.
As the on-going money-making from keeping older aircraft in the air is, apart from the airline actually running them, primarily with the engine manufacturers, the engine manufacturers are major players in placing used aircraft with new owners.

If Biden gets the wealth tax through (as he must) USA can do a reset on size of private jet required.
