Good bang for buck cap suggestions?

Hi.

I’ve been using ansar supersounds for a while and wondered what else there was for similar money.

specifically because they don’t do a 5mfd and the speakers I’m restoring have a few 5s in them and I thought it best like for like.

So any recommendations for half decent wallet freindly 5mfd poly caps would be great thanks.

Panasonic do 5.0uF film caps. Try Farnell, RS and Mouser etc.

Any electrolytic connected the wrong way round across a power rail will give an excellent bang for the buck!

Solen are my favorites and if you need cheaper, have a look at Jantzen entry level caps.

TBH, plus/minus 5% (typical) is 4.75 to 5.25 on 5uF. Could probably get away with 4.7uF

Or parallel a 4.7uF with a 270nF or 330nF.

Not stupidly expensive either.

Not a lot of 5mfds out there, I was searching a while back and came across this Dayton 5.1mfd, might be of interest, they are 5% I wound up just using some old 4.7s Solens I had so can't rate, given the very low price there's probably better. But, might be of help if you really need to be close to 5mf.
