Free web hosting - advice

I'm looking for a free webhosting site for a small family history photography project. I'd like ftp upload and no adverts - any recommendations?

So why should a company give you web space, perhaps they will lend you a car fully fuelled etc.
However if you are prepared to spend a bit of money then take a look at

Or Dropbox. Dropbox is very good for sharing photos / galleries of photos.

I'm actually really sorry I asked - I have now found exactly what I was looking for - a free web hoster that doesn't charge small users - quote "we cover the cost for the servers from happy FREE users who needed more powerful service and upgraded to paid account."

Thanks for the snarky negativity - that's not what 'community' is about. Question answered.
